The National Museum of Anthropology will open its doors for the Angola Field Group this Saturday morning from 9:00 to 12:00, March 28, for special guided tours with English translation, at 9:00 AM and again at 10:00 AM. Come and see displays of the culture of Angola such as female societal rites, elements of traditional religions, hunting and agricultural tools, etc. Films showing Angolan traditional dances, masks,ceremonies, rituals of the kings, etc. will be running non-stop throughout the morning.

The Anthropology Museum is officially closed on Saturdays and Sundays therefore a cost of 500 kwanzas per person will be charged to cover costs of staff working overtime (depending on the number of participants, this fee may be less.) Anybody who is interested is welcome to join. We have no limit to the number of participants but if you want to join us, please send Henriette an email at angolafieldgroup@gmail.com before 9:00 AM on Friday so we can give the museum an idea of how many guides are required.

LOCATION & DIRECTIONS: The museum is the pink structure with a pleasant courtyard located at: Rua de Portugal, No 61, in Coqueiros, downtown Luanda. Directions on how to get to the museum: Rua de Portugal is the street that runs past the Portuguese Embassy, the road that runs parallel to the Hotel Tropico road. Take Rua de Portugal all the way downtown and eventually you will see the museum, a well preserved Portuguese structure, on your right hand side.
